For some children, childhood is difficult. Through your donations, we are able to provide relief for these children. For some kids, it can be as simple as providing a privacy fence so they feel safe while playing. For others, things can get a little complicated. Whatever problems the children face we are here to support them. Through your generous giving we make change happen for kids who need it most.
GROW Project Scholarships
Trauma can affect children’s brains, bodies, behavior, and ways of thinking. All children in foster care have been exposed to some form of trauma. The very act of being put in foster care is traumatic for children because it means the loss of their birth family and often friends, schoolmates, teachers, and everything that is familiar. It is our job to make this transition as painless as possible.
- Goal – For 50 years, ECDC has provided quality child care and preschool to all children, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.
- Reality – ECDC is facing financial hardship following a 2-year pandemic that caused a loss of revenue and increased operating costs. Families are facing the fact that the 2 years of isolation have caused children to fall behind academically and in reaching healthy milestones. Effingham is in a childcare crisis and families need us more than ever before
- Options – ECDC will implement quality improvements to our program while responding to the community needs resulting from the pandemic. ECDC will expand our program to pre-pandemic numbers allowing access to quality child care and preschool for more working families. Children will be kindergarten-ready through the ECDC preschool program.
- Win – ECDC will continue to serve our community for many years to come! More families will have access to quality child care and preschool at ECDC. More preschool-age children will be kindergarten-ready for academic success!
Retire The Mortgage
ECDC moved to our current location 25 years ago! Our current location is modern, safe, and perfectly suited for child care with over 7000 square feet of inside space and an awesome new playground! Moving to this property came with a mortgage, and while the payments are manageable, they consume considerable resources every month. ECDC is launching a fundraiser to Retire the mortgage so the funds can be utilized to directly benefit the children through Scholarships, the Lights on Afterschool and Summer Camp programs, initial days of care for children in foster care, enhancements to our curriculum, lesson plans and more!
